History of Koncepshun

How it all began...

The first Sound Unity Project was developed by myself and Randol aka Aircrash. If anyone recalls, the flyer and website had CrashonMars presents Sound Unity Project. Some people thought it was a spoof off 'StuckonEarth,' but it actually came together from my nick-name 'Mars' and Randol's 'AirCRASH.'

Sound Unity Project was organized with the help of many good friends, DJs, and Renegade Virus Sound System. The purpose of S.U.P. was to provide a weekend getaway from city life for those who shared our interests in sound, among other things.

We threw this 2 night and 3 day camping event in Athol, NY near the Adirondac Mountains at Crazycreek Campgrounds. The drive from Manhattan took 4.5 hrs but it was well worth the trip!

The second Sound Unity Project was organized by myself, Ethan aka Kokopelli CloudWalker (Stereomist), and Jehan (Bassbot). Adam aka Nefarious and Chris aka Chei Vertigo (both from Stereomist) also helped in the organization. Randol (Bassbot) and Oscar (Renegade Virus) provided their sound systems.

This time around we encountered a lot of problems with nearby neighbor complaints, as well as sheriff and state trooper visits. Our music was shut down by midnight, although that didn't stop the Virus crew from starting it up in the cabin during the late hours. After midnight most of the crowd gathered by the camp fire located on a distant clearing by the creek. Many played drums and told stories.

Unfortunately, we could not keep the tradition of the Sound Unity Project for various reason. Many conflicts arose between organizers. Use of the camp grounds was also in question, and so we decided to let it go....at least for now....

I hope we can revive that memorable event for a summer to come.

The Birth of Koncepshun...

Koncepshun developed from an idea I had for a website consisting of various music performers, graphic designers, and random artists. My former web designer, Rob, came up with the name Koncepshun. I am the founder and event coordinator.

Currently, thanks to Oscar aka Xylene, my website is up and running. Now I can bring news to the electronic music party goers and keep the tradition alive.
